Beverley Rotary Club Family Cycle Ride

In June 2004 Beverley Club Rotary Club re-launched its annual Family Cycle Ride after an absence of 6 years and with a shorter route to appeal to family riders, running the event in conjunction with the East Yorkshire Classic Cycle Race as the finale of the Yorkshire Festival of Cycling.

Beverley Rotary Club's first Cycle Ride was run in 1985 over a course of some 30 miles and became known as the Milk Ride, having the local Thomson's Dairies as its sponsor. Over the years some £30K was raised through sponsorship for various local charities.

Last year's ride raised over £2000 for Alzheimer's Society East Riding branch, our President's charity for the year and attracted about 50 riders, ranging in age from 8 to an 80 year old past president of the Club; this year we are hoping to at least double the number of riders. Participants will receive a number of benefits including a year's free Bronze membership of British Cycling, free membership of the Velo Club Beverley and a supply of a Seven Seas' joint-care product for adult riders.

This year's president Mac Fleming is supporting the local branches of four charities:

  • Altzheimer's Society
  • Age Concern
  • Parkinson's Disease Association
  • Association for People with Physical Disabilities

Entry forms can be obtained from ride organiser John Greenwood on 01964 542039 or email secretary@beverleyrotaryclub.org.uk
